For my final hand-in I had to fully complete the model by baking it and texturing it. From there I had to render it in either UDK, Marmoset, or to use the Xiaoliu shader. I rendered my work in UDK and Marmoset. This is my final result and hand-in.

Third Assignment: FPS Gun
For my third assignment I have to create my own FPS Gun. This assignment is set with three milestones. For the first milestone, I have to do research and create a concept of the gun that I want to create. For the second milestone, I have to create a high poly and a low poly model of the gun. And for the final milestone, I have to bake my low poly model and texture it.

Texturing complete
Over the next week I completed the texturing for the model as these are the results.
Overall I am pleased with the result, because I am no Photoshop wizard. I will upload an image of what the textures look like on the models next.

Texturing assingment
Two weeks ago I was given an assignment, which was to choose a 3d model from polycount and create my own textures for the model. I had the UV Maps to work from my chosen model, which was a goblin with a scimitar and shield. I was given two weeks to complete this assignment and within a week I had done this much.
So far I had only done the shield, scimitar, eyes, and a few extra things.
The 3d model itself was made by Paul "MoP" Greveson.

Alpha Mapping
For the lesson before the Christmas break, we were shown how to do alpha mapping. Following the steps shown how to do it, I undertook the task of alpha mapping 2 tree branches and a leaf to start off with, since I have never done any alpha mapping before today.

First Assignment Completed!
Here it is! My finished result! Now with the model itself I think I've done a good job as it's just under 600 tris, but I'm not happy with the texturing. It looks really basic, and the pillars have messed up in the UV Map which I didn't realise until it was too late. I wanted to paint a varnished wood texture for the wood, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, and the tutorials I looked at used other images, so I tried my best to make it look decent but I think it looks boring. When it comes to handing assignments in again during the resubmissions, I will hopefully become a whole lot better at Photoshop than I am now, and to hopefully make this awesome model look really awesome, and not basic and boring.

UV Mapping
This is my UV Mapping of my grandfather clock. It wasn't hard to do, how it was time consuming. All I have to do to this map now is to import it into Photoshop and to add my own hand painted textures.

3D model
This is my 3D model of my grandfather clock. As you can see I haven't strayed away from my concept design, but the back appears to be missing even though it is there. At the moment I don't know what the problem is, but I will amend it eventually. All I need to do now to this model is to ad the clock face and fix the problem.

My Concept!
This is my concept art for the grandfather clock that I am going to model. On the left is a simple design, and on the right is a more detailed version. I've gone with a simple yet elegant design, by having it a rectangle with pillars and a fancy ornament on top.

4. Old West Cart (1000 tris)
5. Forklift Car (900 tris)
6. King's Throne (900 tris)
I've chosen to do the grandfather clock as I see that as the most appealing. I'm also meant to do a concept design, which must include a front, side, and back view of my asset. Also I must UV map and texture my asset myself with my own textures.

My first post!
Hello there my fellow readers!
My name is Nathan Winfield, and I am currently studying BA (Hons) Games Design at Futureworks. I will be posting blogs on Blogger for each of my separate classes to show you 'the world' what I am working on, and see my skills develop and expand as I progress through the next 3 years.
Granted some of the things that I will post on here may confuse some people in the way I express them, so if you have any questions or suggestions or even better feedback, I am happy to answer and take all suggestions and feedback.
This blog is for my class on 3D Modelling. Even though I have got 2 years experience in 3D Modelling, I will be developing my skills even further and to a higher level in this class.
